I spent a lot of time in the Glenview ice center. My sons both play hockey. It is nice that we don’t have to drive into Chicago for practices and games. Most of the time we can stay local and my son’s practices aren’t far from home. We are a hockey family through and through. My kids play all year and we follow the NHL season closely. When the Stantley cup playoffs happen, my family is pressed to the TV screen. We always make it a point to go in person to support our local team, the Chicago Blackhawks. The drive into the city isn’t too bad. It is easy to park, the arena is beautiful and the game is always a good time. I prefer staying in Glenview and watching at home to be honest. I like that I can wear my PJs, make snacks or pee on breaks and go to bed when I want. My sons like to stay up late but sometimes fall asleep on the couch. It is no big deal. I also like having access to quality heating. I crank our gas fireplace and enjoy good heating while watching the game. It is heaven. When we are at the practice center for my sons or seeing a professional game, the ice rink obviously isn’t heated. It is freezing cold, the seats are hard and we are committed to the full game. I usually dehydrate myself so I don’t need to pee in the public restrooms either. It is still great, but I do miss my home heater when we go.

I live in Whitby Ontario and there are plenty of shopping options. Closer to our home there are tons of small boutiques to shop at. That is fun because you can buy things that not everybody in town is wearing. I like to support smaller businesses while I can. I also enjoy that my cannabis dispensary is nearby. My daughter can spend hours in this one particular boutique. I get her set up in the dressing room, run over to my cannabis shop and pick up a few things. I then have some fun stuff for me when I get home and feel tired. I typically take cannabis oil in order to sleep easier at night. Every now and then I grab some edibles with high THC content for my husband and I. After that my daughter and I could go home or venture further out. In the Oshawa Center there are tons of shops, over 200 I would say. You can get the larger department stores like H&M and Gap or you get some high end stores. What is nice is that there is a large food court with tons of fast food options. If my daughter and I do a whole day of shopping we like to end there. We get some pretty good deals and you can find just about anything there. Most people don’t think of my area as a big shopping center, but there really is something for everybody there.
I can travel through Canadian providences without worrying about state cannabis laws like in the United States
Although cannabis legalization is moving forward at the state level in the United States, the possibility of total federal legalization of the plant in the next few years feels like a pipe dream.
Congress is preoccupied with other matters despite the numerous promises and constant false hope being fed to Americans by various lawmakers.
As a Canadian, it strikes me as odd that I could walk into a cannabis dispensary in one state and buy enough weed to go catatonic for a week. But if I dare take any of that cannabis across the border into a neighboring state without legal marijuana, I can get put in a jail cell if a cop smells it in my car. The idea of that just stresses me out to avoid ever going on road trips if I decide to cross the border for a vacation. Even though the cannabis plant is legal in all Canadian provinces, it’s obviously not consistent in quality from city to city. Although Vancouver was formerly the marijuana capital of Canada during the days of the black market, my home city of Toronto is not far behind in all of the amazing cannabis dispensaries that have opened in the last decade. We have several hundred cannabis stores in just Toronto alone. My brother works at a cannabis store in East York on Cosburn Ave while my cousin works at a different marijuana dispensary in Scarborough on Ellesmere Rd. Although I can’t get discounts for being a family member of employees, I’m usually given a heads up when there are fresh batches of quality cannabis strains like Blue Dream and Skywalker OG.
Lake effect snow in Buffalo
When I accepted a job offer, it required me to move to the Buffalo area.
I’d never been to New York state before.
I grew up in the deep south and had never even seen actual snow. I was familiar with temperatures in the triple digits and high humidity. Running the air conditioner was just about a year round necessity. I was both a little worried about and excited for the change of scenery and weather. I moved to Buffalo in the early fall, and it was just beautiful. The weather was cool but pleasant, and the colors of the leaves were absolutely gorgeous. At that time of year, there’s a lot to do in the local area. I enjoyed the Oktoberfest downtown, went apple picking and took a quick trip to Niagara Falls. It didn’t take long for the temperature to drop. There was a tremendous amount of rain and everything turned muddy. Just when I thought the weather couldn’t get any worse, the rain turned to snow. The temperature continued to fall and hit negative digits. Within a few hours, there was over a foot of snow on the ground. That’s when I learned about lake effect snow. The lake effect snow is caused by the proximity of the city to Lake Erie. The clouds draw moisture from the unfrozen lake and drop it in the form of snow. While snow is really beautiful, it’s also heavy, wet, cold and a lot of work. Shoveling snow is exhausting and frustrating. I can spend hours clearing the walking way and brushing off my car before I go to bed at night and then wake up in the morning and need to do it again.

My family and I visited Tampa last month and the experience could have gone better. I rented a hotel room for our stay. That was definitely my first mistake and I probably should have opted for a condo or a rental home. The hotel room wasn’t big enough for my family. We had adjoining rooms and the Tampa area, and the problems started on the first night. My kids were in the room next to my wife and I. At midnight, they started knocking on the door. My wife and I were asleep at the time and we were worried when they started banging on the door. They were complaining about the AC. They turned the temperature all the way down to 60 degrees and the AC was blowing warm air. My wife went next door to look at the AC unit and I called the front desk. No one answered, even though I let the phone ring 15 times and called 3 different times in 15 minutes. I walked down to the lobby and found someone working. The guy looked like he had been asleep. I told the guy behind the desk in the hotel that the AC wasn’t working. He said maintenance couldn’t work on the AC until the morning. I was pretty upset by the attitude and confrontation and I wanted to leave the hotel immediately. In the morning, I waited for the manager to arrive and I refused to leave until he fixed the AC and issued a full refund for our stay. That first night was long and uncomfortable, but the rest of the stay wasn’t too bad.

I had fun looking for antiques with my grandma
My mom and I went to visit my grandmother for a couple of weeks.
I didn’t want to leave all of my friends for three weeks during the summer and I was very unhappy about the trip.
I begged my mom to let me stay at the house with my dad, but she didn’t want me to be at the house all day alone. My mom and I met my grandmother at the airport. She picked us up in Albuquerque and we drove to her home. My grandmother’s home and Albuquerque is located in a community that does not have any children. The over 55 community was a boring place for me and I did not have anyone to play with while I was on vacation. My dad came to visit for a couple of days and my mom went to pick him up at the airport. They were gone most of the day. My grandmother decided that the two of us would go out for lunch. We went to a deli that serve sandwiches and the place was across the street from an antique shop. I did not think it would be much fun to visit the antique shop in Albuquerque, but my grandmother had a way of making that outing fun and interesting. We visited several different antique shops in Albuquerque and my grandmother let me pick out an old pocket watch. She even paid for the watch to be fixed so it would run and keep time. I honestly didn’t think I would have much fun during that trip, but the day I spent with my grandmother was a ton of fun.

The Vegas dispensary on the strip delivered to my hotel
I needed to get out of town for a couple of days.
I needed to relax and unwind.
Work has been really busy and I haven’t had a moment to myself in months. I didn’t want to sit around the whole time and I thought that Vegas sounded like a lot of fun. I took an airplane to the destination and I took a taxi to the hotel. Everything I needed was right there in the hotel, including Wi-Fi, coffee, food, gambling, and shuttle service back to the airport. I was there for two nights. On my second night in Vegas, I saw a flyer for a cannabis dispensary. I thought it could be fun to use recreational marijuana to unwind. I went online to browse the selection at the cannabis shop. They had a lot of items available for sale. One of the items was a to G pre-rolled marijuana joint with distillate, liquid diamonds, bubble hash, and kief. It was $46, but it looked like a monster. I smoked on that joint the whole weekend. I could have gotten high six or seven times from the same joint. Unfortunately, I had to get rid of it before I flew back home on the plane. I hated throwing the rest of that expensive joint in the hotel garbage can. I covered it with a tissue and some old food. I didn’t want anyone to smell weed in the room. The last thing I needed was an extra charge on my credit card for room odors. That would look odd on the business statement.
LA has better prices on marijuana than Tarzana
It’s incredibly expensive to live in Los Angeles.
Nobody really lives in the city, which is why all of the metropolitan area is included in the city demographics.
Most people work in the city and live in a number of the communities surrounding Los Angeles. Tarzana is one of the nicest cities that borders Los Angeles. It is a short drive for me to get to my shop which is located in Beverly Hills. When the traffic is busy, it takes about 45 minutes, but on a regular day it’s only about 30. Tarzana is a suburb and it isn’t known for having the cheapest prices on marijuana. Everybody knows that the cheapest prices on marijuana are in the city. There are at least a dozen different places in Los Angeles to buy medical and recreational marijuana. Prices in Tarzana are at least ten or 15% higher than places in the city. It’s a huge reason why a lot of people do all of their marijuana shopping in Los Angeles. After work on Friday, I drove from my shop in Beverly Hills to the airport. I picked up my sister and her husband and they came to stay for a couple of days. We stopped at a recreational marijuana dispensary in San Fernando, because I knew the prices were going to be way cheaper than they were in Tarzana. My sister and her husband are Avid recreational marijuana smokers. I knew they would want to get the best bang for their Buck, even if it was vacation.
