Maybe the kids didn’t like leaving Lansing for the day, but my husband and I had a great time
I knew that my husband was thinking about buying a boat the day he left Lansing with his friends. Maybe I should have had a discussion with him to stop the purchase from happening, but I was secretly hoping we would get a boat too. I knew it was going to make the bills tight from month to month, but I saw the two of us with the kids out on the lake every weekend. I wasn’t even surprised when my husband came home and surprised me with a bass boat. He wanted to go to the lake the following weekend when we were off work. I thought the kids would be more excited about the boat, but all they did was complain about the heat and the temperatures the whole time we were out on the water. I thought it was positively amazing outside. Instead of sitting in our home in Lansing, Illinois with the rest of our neighborhood, we were out on the water enjoying a day of fishing. We even bought fishing poles for the kids, but they were more interested in sitting in the back of the boat playing their video games. Twice after lunch the kids complained about the air conditioning situation and begged that we let them go home. I was really disappointed in the behavior of the boys and I would have expected them to enjoy the outdoor activity a little bit more. Maybe the kids didn’t like leaving Lansing for the day, but my husband and I had a great time. Next time we go to the lake, I think we will leave the kids at home in the AC with a sitter.
