A couple of months ago and the summer season, we had a terrible thunderstorm that caused widespread power outages all over Albuquerque and the surrounding area. When the power went out, my apartment was affected. I honestly didn’t mind not having any power, but it was a drag to go without the AC. As soon as the power came back on, I turned on the thermostat and adjusted the temperature for the AC. Unfortunately, nothing happened when I switched on the AC. The machine did not respond to the thermostat. I tried toggling between heat and AC, but nothing helped. I tried to turn off the thermostat and turn it back on. It was getting hot inside of the house and I thought the best course of action was to contact an Albuquerque HVAC provider. I called several different places. No one had an available appointment on the same day. I called five different Albuquerque HVAC providers before I found someone that could lend assistance. The AC service provider came to the house later that afternoon to check on the condition of the AC. My wife and I found out that the AC had been struck by a bolt of lightning during the storm. We had to replace the electrical components in the AC unit. They were completely fried by the lightning. The HVAC service contractor told my wife and I that this type of problem is very rare and infrequent. We got really unlucky during the storm. The damages were severe and the replacement parts were expensive.
