My Grandma’s home was colder than I remember it being! I loved visiting Grandma around Christmas because of his great ginger cookies and warm chocolate, then he made everything with love, and it was fun sitting around the fire gas furnace listening to his stories.
My Grandma had the most soothing voice, and he told stories and left you with a lesson that lived with you for life.
She was warm and caring, and of course, pampered us more than all of us needed. I was now older and in my school years, however I still loved seeing my Grandma. She is now older and frail but still as warm and accommodating as ever… This 1 time I visited, when Winter time was beginning to show signs, I felt as though the home was too cold. Surprising, the gas furnace was on, and his caretaker also had the fireplace burning. I checked the temperature control to find out if it was faulty since I did not understand the chilly weather. It turns out that the temperature control was working okay. I tried a few other official concernshooting tricks, and none seemed to work; Finally, I called my A/C expert neighbor in Tampa Bay, FL, who advised me to check the insulation. I told his Grandma’s home was old, and he suspected that the insulation material might be wearing off. She advised me to check the attic, and tscheme to his suspicion, the insulation material was almost gone, and with his situation, I bought a few foam insulating materials and had them installed in the attic. The home in Tampa Bay, FL became warmer within a few seconds of the replacement, and they did not even need the fireplace anymore, but grandma was happier and even got to be his seasoned cheerful self. It seems as though the chilly was depressing his before.
