Weed and the history of Denver

A few weeks ago our child got an assignment from school to research a little known fact about the history of Denver, CO, & prepare a presentation on it! The child is a little bit goth, & asked me to help him research famous criminals in the early afternoons of the state, however little did I believe that we would find such an incredible array of good stories from the history of Denver! This is a quiet locale to live, but that wasn’t consistently the case because Denver used to be a mile-high version of Deadwood! Alfred Packer is a single of the most famous CO residents to ever pass through Denver, on her way to being as notorious gold prospector, murderer, & cannibal! After being convicted & sentenced to death, Packer was given a second trial, at which she was sentenced to 40 years for her alleged crimes, crimes that were widely covered by the Denver Post newspaper, and here is the crazier section of the story – after serving her time & getting released, Packer entirely went to work for the Denver Post! Do you believe what position she played for this esteemed Denver publication? Security guard! This is a single of those weird & fun little historical facts that make Denver such a neat locale to live, just care about our cannabis dispensaries! Were you aware that Denver is the only city in the world to have more cannabis dispensaries than it has Starbucks? That is no small feat, & just goes to show you that in Denver people care about their weed even more than they care about bitter coffee.
