The plan is for me to stay six months before they move

I accepted a job in the city of Seattle, but my family and I are from Texas.

When I agreed to take the job, I knew I was going to have to spend some time away from my wife and kids.

The jobs started immediately, but we weren’t ready to move halfway across the country. All of the moving tasks settled onto the shoulders of my wife. She seemed up for the task, even though it was incredibly stressful. The plan was for me to spend six months in Seattle working while my wife got the house and the kids ready to move in the summer when the school year was over. I was gone for three months and I didn’t have my wife or my kids with me. I started using recreational marijuana frequently. My wife was very unhappy that I was using recreational marijuana. I tried to explain to her that it was perfectly legal in Seattle, but she claimed that I was taking advantage of the laws. She refused to move to Seattle with the kids until I promised to go to nightly NA meetings after work was over. I felt like I was between a rock and a hard place. I had to take a week off from my contract job so I could fly back home to Texas to talk to my wife. I don’t know what she was thinking, but I could tell she was nervous about moving. After we were together, she calmed down and realized that she was overreacting. Three weeks later, we were all in Seattle together.
