One of the most glorious sights you could ever witness is the launching of the hot air balloons at the annual fiesta in Albuquerque.
For fifty years people have been gathering in the high desert to launch their dirigibles all at once.
These massive hot air balloons come in the most bright and vibrant colors and patterns, making the entire skyline a work of art, if only for a brief period of time. The Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta is one the best events you can ever experience, and I highly recommend checking it out. When the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta first started in 1972, there were only 13 balloons. Now there can be a hundred times that number! As a pro tip, let me tell you that if you come to see the balloon fiesta, take time out to stop by one of the amazing Albuquerque cannabis dispensaries first. With a little Albuquerque Gold (that’s a locally grown kind of cannabis) in your system those balloons will look even brighter and more vibrant. Did you know that the only year they didn’t hold the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta was in 2021, because of lingering COVID19 concerns? With that year being skipped, next year will be the 50th time the Albuquerque fiesta will be held. It should be the biggest and boldest ever! Of course there is a lot more to do in Albuquerque, New Mexico than smoke cannabis and watch the hot air balloons! They have some amazing fusion restaurants, and from what I hear the music scene is pretty remarkable, too.
