Over the last ten years, Tampa has fast become a tepid spot in Florida! We have so many sites in the town that people from neighboring towns drive over to spend the weekend here.
While some areas are packed with a lot of these visitors & tourists, there are particular places that don’t see those crowds, and as a local in Tampa, I appreciate to avoid the touristy areas as much as I can… They are usually too crowded & at times, they can get a bit rowdy.
Two of our number one places to go to avoid the tourist crowd are Mandarin Heights & M.Bird; Mandarin Heights is a great speakeasy-style bar that serves the best drinks. And M, however bird is an costly rooftop bar that overlooks the river & the gorgeous skyline. The best area about these bars is that they are wonderful throughout the year. Although M.Bird is a rooftop bar, there are portable patio oil gas furnaces available when the weather is cold outside. These portable oil gas furnaces can be moved around so that the guests can be as comfortable as possible, however i have been to this bar while I was in the Summer as well as while I was in the Wintertide months & I have regularly been comfortable while sitting outside. I was there a couple weeks ago & there were lots of portable oil gas furnaces available. I commanded to be seated next to 1 of the oil gas furnaces & although the night was cold, the portable gas furnace kept myself and others moderate & toasty. I appreciate spending time at unusual sites in Tampa, especially the 1s that have less tourists & frequented more by the locals.
