I am a hairdresser. I used to work in a major salon in the city. It was a nightmare. It was constant upsells and client stealing. My boss wasn’t really great and the workplace mood was horrible. When my husband started looking at jobs a distance aways from the city, I encouraged him. We ended up moving to Libertyville Illinois and I love it. I love that there are tons of markets around. I love the shops, bars and restaurants. I also like that it is more of a small town vibe. My husband encouraged me to set up my own salon and it was the best thing I ever did. I now control what client I take and what my schedule is. I get 100% of the profits and I can decorate my store the way I want it to be. The clients are so much better. City clients tended to be snooty, rude and mean. These local people are so sweet and friendly. I have people I see on a regular basis that I really have become friends with. It is a little cooler than where I used to be but I find I don’t mind it. My husband and I found a home that has a ductless heating plan. We actually have zone control which is an amazing little invention. We can control the amount of heating in each room of the house. Unused rooms don’t get as much heat and our bedroom gets a ton. When the two of us go away on a trip, we lower the thermostat right from our phones.
