I was happy to be working that wintery day

The areas around Chicago, Illinois are prone to extremely cold temperatures during the winter months of December, February, and January. Precipitation like rain and snow is likely and there are often heavy winds as well. A few days ago, I was very happy to be working at the grocery store. I have an apartment in Orland Park, but I drive to Chicago every day for work. I was recently promoted to the Vice President of Sales for a large supermarket chain called Jewel-Osco. This grocery store chain was founded in Chicago and they are one of the biggest grocery store chains in the area. I started working for the company when I was 14 years old. When I received my promotion, I thought about moving to Chicago. The price of real estate is far too high and the crime is awful. I was working last Tuesday and the store was extremely busy. It’s getting close to the Christmas season and people are starting to pick up items that they weren’t for the holidays. I saw the snow starting to fall outside. The precipitation started to get heavier and heavier. The temperature in the store started to drop, so I adjusted the thermostat. I turned up the heat and adjusted the indoor temperature by two degrees. There are a couple of managers that do not have access to the thermostat or the store temperatures, but I have complete control at the branch where I work everyday. I maintained warm temperatures inside the store that day and I was happy to be working indoors.
