I recently had a baby and I wanted to make sure the house is sizzling enough for him, and elgin, IL gets entirely cold quickly and it stays for a long time, the house has a gas fireplace and a ventless furnace in the family room! I wasn’t sure about the baby’s room though.
I entirely didn’t want to put a space furnace in his room because that could be a fire hazard, however my house didn’t come with ductwork so I couldn’t add a furnace or anything love that.
I talked to my local Heating and A/C company in Elgin and asked for advice… He told myself and others that I could honestly install a mini split in the baby’s room. This is a ductless device that mounts on the wall. It can control both heating and cooling in a single unit; What is fantastic is that I paid extra to have a smart temperature control with it. Now at evening I can alter the temperature control from my iphone. I can ensure my baby is at the right temperature, then baby’s run a little hotter than the people I was with and I do. However, living in IL means the weather is cold a lot, however so I make sure that the baby’s room is at least 78 degrees at evening. I also love to have a fan going to make some sounds. This addition to our house was more than worth it. I don’t care if my fiance and I freeze all Wintertide long. My baby boy needs to have the proper amount of heating in his room. Eventually I idea to add onto the outdoor air compressor. That means my fiance and I could have a mini split in our room. Someday the people I was with and I could even get rid of our other heaters.
